About Me

Thank you for taking the time to stop by and read my blog! My name is Tara, and this blog is here to document my journey to success. I have a long way to go before I reach my goals, but I will reach them! I hope that I can inspire some of you who find yourself reading this to also strive and reach your goals.

While I don't have all the answers, I have come a long way from where I was, and have overcome many struggles to get here. I don't want to write a book about my past, but I will highlight a few short points; my primary education ended after the completion of seventh grade. I have been homeless. I've had my share of experience with addiction. My son and I lived in a one bedroom apartment, in the ghetto, with zero furniture, well... we did have two twin sized air mattresses, if you count them as furniture for over a year before we had furniture donated to us. Now I am on a quest to live the most fulfilling, successful life I possibly can. And I promise you, as cliché as this is, it is very true... if I can do it, so can YOU!!

"I am on sabbatical."

These are the words I tell myself to feel better about being an almost 40-year-old, single mom, struggling student, and overweight Beachbody coach. I have spent most of my life trying to make snow cones with ice that wouldn't freeze from the Great Salt Lake. It wasn't until my mid 30's that I realized... "Ahhhh! You mean, you do need more than a seventh-grade education to be a credible source of information?" And, "What!? You mean… I should STOP smoking two packs of cigarettes a day and living on caffeine pills to be healthy?" And of course, "You mean I can't lose weight by working out and eating whatever I want?"

In reality, I am very much on sabbatical. I am working my butt off to graduate from UCLA in two years with a degree in Sociology and finally have my life on track. I just switched my major from Psychology to Sociology and therefore extended my program another year. I will be a happy, motivated, and fit. I am going to strut across that stage with a bangin body! I mean, my body is going to look so good that people will actually say, "wow, she has a nice body." as opposed to, "wow, she looks good for her age." I’m striving to be an income generating, kick-ass, middle aged woman, and with a degree! It is both sad and liberating that I am just now figuring myself out. Sad because I am older and wish I was further along in my journey than I am now, but liberating because this is my journey and I actually am figuring it out. I am not still waiting for things to happen, I am taking control of my life. Yes, I did have to step away from life for a bit, but I stepped out of a life that was not fulfilling and I've stepped into a life that's full of promise and hope.

I am a Beachbody coach. Even though I have a lot of weight to lose and am far from being a "fitness girl." I became a coach because I am overweight and have felt lethargic for years! I have never had a great body, and I felt with my sabbatical, there's no better time than now to get the body I have always wanted. I like activity, I like going to the gym, but have never seen great results on my own. I figured becoming a coach would help me because it's kind of like having a personal trainer, and you have a ton of support. I also knew that by helping others stay motivated, I would be more apt to stay on track for my own health and fitness goals. I care more about health than I do about getting an amazing body, although I really, really want an amazing body!

I will reach my goals by the time my sabbatical ends...

I am loosely using the habits Tom Corley described in his book as "Rich Habits" as my guide to implement rich habits into my own life and see the results they have. You can read more about it on my post, "Can Our Daily Habits Really Make us Rich?" Although I am also following others successful living strategies. I make it a point to read at least an hour a day something that will propel my life forward and help me accomplish my goals. Ideally, and eventually, I would like to provide people with an actionable guide that would allow them to reach unimaginable success. Like an actual step-by-step guide.

I would love for you to join me on this journey! I would love to learn from you as well as teach you. I want to inspire as well as be inspired. Let me know you're here and let's chat about creating the life we desire for ourselves and our families. I truly believe that anyone can lead and live the life they choose, you just gotta know what you want and then figure out how to get it! I want a life overflowing with happiness, fulfillment, health, and wealth. What do you want out of your time here on Earth? Are you willing to do what it takes to make it happen??
